Help & answers

Frequently asked questions.

Starting a new website project can be daunting. We’re here to answer any questions you may have to help you feel at ease.

We’ve been creating websites and brands since 2012, and we’ve learnt what it takes to deliver a successful project, big or small. We work closely with our clients, with clear communication so we’re all on the same page. We want you to be happy every step of the way.

01

General

Getting started, costs, timescales and the basics.

I’ve never had a website. Where do I start?

Just get in touch. We’ll have a relaxed chat about your business, what you want the website to do and your budget. There’s no hard sell and no jargon. From there we’ll send you a clear proposal with costs and a timeline, and guide you through every step.

How much does a website cost?

Every project is different, so the cost depends on what you need. Our brochure websites start from around £1,200. Online shops, extra features and larger sites cost more. Once we understand your project, we’ll give you a fixed quote, so there are no surprises.

How long does it take to design and build a website?

A typical brochure website takes around 4–6 weeks from start to launch. Larger or more complex sites take longer. Your proposal includes a timeline tailored to your project, and having your content ready early helps keep things moving.

Do I need a domain name?

Yes. Your domain is your address on the web (like amiadesign.co.uk). If you don’t have one yet, we’ll help you choose and register it. If you already own one, we’ll connect it to your new site.

Do I need my own web hosting?

No. We offer hosting, which keeps things simple: one point of contact, and we look after updates and maintenance for you. If you already have hosting you’re happy with, you’re welcome to keep it, as long as it meets your website’s needs.

Will my website work on mobile phones?

Absolutely. We design every site mobile-first, so it looks great and works smoothly on phones, tablets and desktop computers.

Do you build online shops?

We do. We build custom e-commerce websites that let you sell products online, take secure payments and manage orders and stock yourself.

What is a Content Management System (CMS)?

A CMS is an easy-to-use tool for updating your website without any technical skills. You log in through your web browser to add or edit pages, images, products and blog posts. We’ll recommend the right one for your project.

Will I be able to update the website myself?

Yes. Every client gets training when their site launches, so you’ll feel confident making updates. If you’d rather we handled changes for you, that’s fine too.

Can you maintain our website for us?

Yes. Our website care packages offer different levels of support, including hosting, software and security updates, backups, SEO and content updates. Get in touch and we’ll suggest the package that suits you.

Can you help with social media and email marketing?

Absolutely. Your website, social media and emails should all look and feel like one brand. We can set up and manage your Facebook page and help with email marketing.

What is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?

SEO is about helping your website appear higher in search results, so more of the right people find you. Good, relevant content on your website is one of the most important parts, alongside a fast, well-built site.

How long will it take to get on the first page of Google?

It depends on your content, your location and how competitive your industry is, so no one can honestly guarantee a time frame. Every site we build includes the essential SEO set-up. To compete for the top spots, most businesses need ongoing work, which our website care packages can provide.

Do you write the content for my site?

You know your business best, so we usually ask you to supply the main content. We’ll then polish it to fit the design and include the right keywords for SEO. If you’d like it written for you, we can bring in a professional copywriter.

Can you design my logo?

Yes, we can. We also offer complete branding packages, including business cards, letterheads, envelopes and more, so everything matches.

02

Web design

Bespoke websites designed around your business.

About WordPress Web Design
Do you use templates?

No. Every website we design starts from a blank page and is built around your brand, your customers and what you want the site to achieve. That way it looks like your business, not like hundreds of other sites.

Can you redesign my existing website?

Yes. Whether you need a small tidy-up or a complete rebrand, we’ll look at what’s working on your current site, what isn’t, and suggest the best way forward. We can usually reuse your existing content and keep your domain name.

What do I need to get ready before we start?

Your logo, any photos you’d like to use and the main text for each page are the most helpful. Don’t worry if you don’t have everything yet, we’ll give you a simple checklist and help you fill the gaps.

Will my new website be set up for Google?

Yes. Every page gets the essential SEO set-up, including page titles, descriptions, fast loading and a mobile-first build, so search engines can find and understand your site from day one.

03

Company branding

A look and feel you can use everywhere.

About Company Branding
What’s included in a branding package?

It starts with your logo, then adds the colours and typography that suit your business, and stationery such as business cards, letterheads and envelopes. We can also carry your new branding through to your website and social media so everything matches.

What’s the difference between a logo and a brand?

Your logo is one part of your brand. Your brand is the whole look and feel people recognise you by: the colours, fonts, style of imagery and the way you come across. A strong brand makes everything you produce feel like it comes from the same business.

How does the briefing process work?

We start with a conversation about your business, your customers and what makes you different. That brief guides every design decision, so the branding we create says the right things about your products and services.

Can you refresh my existing branding rather than start again?

Yes. If your business is well known by its current look, a refresh can modernise it while keeping what people already recognise. We’ll talk through the options with you before any design work begins.

04

Logo design

A logo you’ll love that represents your company.

About Logo Design
How does the logo design process work?

We talk to you first to understand your business and your brand, then design initial ideas from scratch. You give us your feedback and we refine the design with you until you’re happy with it.

What files will I receive?

You’ll get files ready for your printer, your website and your social media channels, so your logo looks sharp everywhere it’s used.

Will my logo work on signs, vans and social media?

Yes. We always think about where your logo will be used, so it works on a van, a sign or a social media profile just as well as on your website.

Can you make business cards and stationery to match?

Yes. Our company branding packages build on your logo with business cards, letterheads, envelopes and more, so everything matches.

05

E-commerce websites

Online shops that are fast, easy to use and bring customers back.

About E-Commerce Websites
Can I take card payments on my website?

Yes. Your shop will take secure online payments, with a smooth, mobile-friendly checkout so customers can buy quickly on any device.

Can I add and update products myself?

Yes. You’ll be able to manage products, orders and stock yourself, and we’ll give you training when your shop launches so you feel confident doing it.

I already sell in a shop or at markets. Can my website work alongside that?

Absolutely. Tell us how you sell today and we’ll recommend the right approach for your online shop, whether you’re selling a handful of products or a large range.

Will my shop grow with my business?

Yes. We build your store so it can grow with you, whether that’s more products, new categories or extra features later on, so you won’t outgrow it.

06

Website hosting

Fast, reliable and secure hosting here in the UK.

About WordPress Hosting
How much does hosting cost?

Our hosting is £15 a month. That includes SSL certificates, server-side caching, nightly backups, security monitoring, uptime monitoring and priority telephone support.

Where are your servers?

Our hosting runs on modern UK servers with 100% SSD storage and 99.9% uptime.

Do you provide email accounts?

Yes. We can provide up to 5 free professional email accounts for you and your staff, and help you set them up on all your devices.

Can you move my existing website to your hosting?

Yes. We handle the technical side for you, from setting up your hosting to connecting your domain, so your website moves across with as little fuss as possible.

07

Website maintenance

Keep your site updated, secure and backed up.

About WordPress Maintenance
What does a maintenance plan include?

Every plan covers WordPress core, plugin and theme updates, premium plugin licences, an SSL certificate, security and uptime monitoring, nightly backups, priority telephone support and a monthly website report. You also get time for changes to your site: 2 hours per quarter on the Quarterly plan, or 2 hours per month on the Monthly and Yearly plans.

How often will my website be updated?

That depends on the plan you choose. The Quarterly plan updates your site every quarter, while the Monthly and Yearly plans update it every month. If you have several websites or need something different, we can tailor a Custom plan.

How do I pay for a maintenance plan?

All prices are per website and can be paid quarterly, monthly (billed quarterly) or yearly in advance.

What happens if something goes wrong with my website?

We keep backups of all your website files and databases in several onsite and offsite locations, so if anything goes wrong we can restore your site. You’ll also have priority telephone support whenever you need us.

08

White label

Websites, shops and branding for agencies, delivered under your name.

About white label
What is white label web design?

It means we design and build the work, and you deliver it to your client under your own agency’s name. It’s a simple way to take on more projects without taking on more staff.

Will my clients know you were involved?

No. We work behind the scenes and the finished work is handed over under your name, so the end client doesn’t need to know we were involved.

Do you work with agencies outside Norfolk?

Yes. We’ve been white labelling for a New York agency for over five years, as well as for a Norfolk agency for three. We work by email, phone and video call.

How do you price white label work?

Every project is different, so send us your project requirements and we’ll give you a clear quote and timeline before any work starts.

09

AI services

Practical AI set up around the way you already work.

About ai services
What can AI actually do for a small business?

Most of the value is in saving time. A chat assistant on your website can answer common questions day and night, routine replies and admin can be automated, and AI tools can help with everyday jobs like drafting emails and documents. We focus on the things that will make a real difference to your week.

What is a website chat assistant?

It’s a chat window on your website that knows about your business: your services, opening hours, prices and frequently asked questions. It answers visitors straight away and can pass enquiries on to you when a person needs to step in.

Is my business data safe?

Before anything is set up, we’ll talk you through what information an AI tool will use and where it’s stored, and we’ll only use the information you’re happy to share. Nothing goes live until you’ve tested it and signed it off.

We’ve never used AI. Can you help us get started?

Yes. We can help you and your team get started with AI tools in plain English, showing you how to use them for your own day-to-day tasks so you feel confident, not overwhelmed.

10

Small business apps

Simple web apps built around how your business runs.

About small business apps
What kind of apps do you build?

Simple web apps that replace spreadsheets, paperwork and back-and-forth emails. For example booking and quote tools, customer portals where clients can see their information, and dashboards that show you how your business is doing at a glance.

Do my customers need to download anything?

No. Our apps are web apps, so they run in a web browser on phones, tablets and computers. There’s nothing to install from an app store.

Can an app work with my website?

Yes. An app can sit alongside your website or be built into it, for example a quote tool on your services page or a customer login area, so it all feels like one business.

How do I know if I need an app?

If you or your team spend hours copying information between spreadsheets, chasing emails or filling in the same forms, there’s probably a better way. Tell us how things work now and we’ll be honest about whether an app is worth it.

11

Astro websites

Fast, modern websites that are easy to update.

About astro websites
What is Astro?

Astro is a modern way of building websites that focuses on speed. Pages are built in advance and send only what each page needs, so they load very quickly, which visitors and search engines both love.

How is it different from WordPress?

WordPress relies on plugins that need regular updates to stay secure. An Astro website doesn’t have plugins to keep patching, so it’s cleaner, more secure and needs less looking after.

Can I still update my Astro website myself?

Yes. We pair your Astro site with an easy-to-use content management system, so you can log in and edit pages, images and posts yourself, and we’ll train you when your site launches.

Can you move my WordPress website to Astro?

Yes. We can rebuild your existing website with Astro, keep your content and your domain name, and make sure your pages keep their place in search results.
